Definition:
 
1. donation: something such as money or time that is given, especially to a common fund or for a specific purpose
a contribution toward my college education.

2. regular payment: a regular fixed amount paid, e.g. to a retirement fund, often deducted from somebody's wages

3. role played in achieving something: the part played by somebody or something in causing a result
She recognized the contribution of her parents to her success.

4. material supplied for publication or broadcast: a piece of material that forms part of a publication or broadcast
