intransitive verb 
Definition:
 
1. plot: to plan secretly to do something, usually something wrong or illegal

2. give tacit consent to something wrong: to pretend not to know about or do nothing to stop a wrongful or illegal act, thus showing encouragement of or consent to the act
He connived at his brother's shoplifting with the understanding that he would share the loot.
