Definition:
 
1. anatomy place where cells or organs meet: a line or point where two cells, organs, or body parts meet or connect

2. anatomy linking band of nerve tissue: a band of nerve tissue that connects opposite sides of the central nervous system, e.g. the tissue connecting the left and right sides of the brain

3. botany place where plant parts join: a junction or seam between two organs or parts, e.g. that between the carpels of a flower
