Definition:
 
1. removing unwanted objects: the removal of obstructions or unwanted objects such as dilapidated buildings or overgrown bushes before building or cultivating

2. permission for something to happen: permission to do something or for something to take place
several aircraft awaiting clearance to take off

3. width or height of opening: the width or height of an opening or passage
Clearance on these freeway overpasses is limited, so big trucks must detour.

4. cheap sale of merchandise: a sale of goods at reduced prices in order to clear stock
