Chel·sea [ chélssee ]
1. former borough of west central London, now part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. A popular residential area for artists, writers, and musicians in the 18th century, it is also the site of the Chelsea Royal Hospital.
2. city in eastern Massachusetts, directly northeast of Boston, on the Mystic River. Population: 32,518 (2005 estimate).
