catch·word [ kách wùrd, kéch wùrd ] (plural catch·words)

Definition:
 
1. popular word: a word or phrase that is so frequently used, often over a short period of time, that it comes to be identified with a particular feeling, quality, or idea
catchwords of the 1980s such as "upwardly mobile" and "yuppie"

2. Canada word marking range of material covered: a word printed at the top of a page in a dictionary or other reference book, usually the first or last entry for that page.

3. binder's cue: the first word of a page of printed text repeated at the bottom right-hand corner of the previous page, originally placed there to draw the binder's attention to it
