Definition:
 
1. public celebration: a public festive occasion or period, often with street processions, costumes, music, and dancing

2. outdoor show: a traveling outdoor amusement show with rides and sideshows

3. entertainment with games and prizes: an organized event with a program of games, competitions, and prizes

4. period before Lent: the period just before Lent begins. It is celebrated in some Roman Catholic areas with a public festival such as Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
