Definition:
 
1. take somebody prisoner: to catch and then forcibly lock up or restrain a person or animal

2. seize place: to seize or gain control over a place

3. take something in game: to win control or gain possession of something in a game or contest

4. dominate somebody's thoughts: to enchant or dominate somebody's mind, especially somebody's imagination, or hold somebody's attention
