1. keep something quiet: to prevent information from becoming known

2. keep somebody quiet: to prevent somebody from revealing information

3. evade something: to evade an issue or question

4. murder somebody discreetly: to murder somebody silently and without leaving marks or wounds, especially by suffocation ( dated )
