Definition:
 
1. section of skeleton: one of the hard parts forming the skeleton in vertebrate animals

2. material making up bones: the main material that forms a vertebrate skeleton, principally collagen fiber and calcium phosphate

3. substance resembling bone: something hard that resembles the bone of a vertebrate skeleton, e.g. whalebone or ivory
