Definition:
 
1. adhesion: the way in which one surface sticks to another

2. adhesive substance: a substance that makes objects adhere

3. link between people: a link that binds people together in a relationship

4. restraint: a situation that limits somebody socially, psychologically, or emotionally

5. law solemn promise: a solemn agreement promising to do something

6. finance certificate promising debt repayment: a certificate issued by a government or company promising to pay back borrowed money at a fixed rate of interest on a specified date

7. law document promising to pay: a document that legally obliges one party to pay money to another

8. criminal law payment securing bail: a sum of money paid to secure the release from prison of somebody awaiting trial, on the condition that the person appears on the date of the trial

9. something that binds: an object such as a rope, band, or chain that binds somebody or something
