beach or beech? Do not confuse the spelling of beach and beech, which sound similar. The word beach can be used as a noun, meaning "sandy shore" (as in sunbathing on the beach), or as a verb, meaning "haul ashore or be stranded ashore" (as in to beach a boat, a beached whale). The word beech is only used as a noun denoting a tree or its wood.
