al·lo·graph [ állə gràf ] (plural al·lo·graphs)

Definition:
 
1. something written on somebody's behalf: something, especially a signature, written by one person on another's behalf

2. representation of phoneme: a letter or combination of letters that is one of a set that can be used to represent the same speech sound phoneme, e.g. "s," "ss," and "c" in English
