transitive and intransitive verb  (past and past participle aid·ed, present participle aid·ing, 3rd person present singular aids)
Definition:
 
give help to somebody: to provide somebody or something with help or with what is needed to achieve something
Better sewage systems aid in the fight against cholera.



noun  (plural aids)
Definition:
 
1. money or supplies: financial or material assistance, e.g. that provided by a government or international organization, especially in times of crisis
