Definition:
 
1. transitive verb praise somebody highly: to praise somebody or something publicly and enthusiastically

2. transitive verb pronounce somebody to be something: to declare publicly and enthusiastically that somebody holds a high position
was acclaimed as the winner

3. intransitive verb shout enthusiastically: to demonstrate enthusiastic approval by shouting and cheering

4. transitive verb Canada win office by default: to elect a candidate to an office by default, owing to a lack of opposition ( usually passive )
