| A·bu Sim·bel [ boo símbəl, boo sím bèl ] ancient Egyptian temples: site of two carved rock temples in southern Egypt, built in the reign of Rameses II in the 13th century bc. They were moved to higher ground in the 1960s to avoid possible damage from the construction of the Aswan High Dam. |
