1. transitive and intransitive verb stop feeding baby with mother's milk: to start feeding a baby or young animal food other than its mother's milk

2. transitive verb stop somebody from having something: to cause somebody to go without something that has become a habit or that is much liked

3. transitive verb accustom somebody to something from childhood: to accustom somebody to something from an early age
