Definition:
 
1. advance payment for something: an agreement to pay for and receive or use something over a fixed period of time, e.g. a periodical, series of books, or set of tickets to musical or dramatic performances

2. pledge to pay for something: a promise to pay for something when it will occur, e.g. the financing of a new business or a new issue of stock

3. law signing of document or signature: the process of signing a legal document as an indication of approval of its terms, or an approving signature on a document ( formal )

4. total agreement: a full agreement with or approval of something ( literary )

5. U.K. membership fee: a fee paid for membership in a club or society
