transitive verb  (past and past participle spliced, present participle splic·ing, 3rd person present singular splic·es)
Definition:
 
1. join ropes: to join two pieces of rope or wire by weaving the strands of each into the other

2. join ends of film or tape: to join the ends of two pieces of film or magnetic tape, e.g. in editing

3. join pieces of wood: to join two pieces of wood by overlapping them and bolting or otherwise attaching them

4. marry two people: to join a couple in marriage ( slang ) ( often passive )

5. genetics insert genetic material: to join together or insert pieces of DNA in order to alter the genetic structure of an organism
