Definition:
 
1. device putting something into digital form: an input device used to convert an image or text into digital form for storage or display

2. data-scanning device: a device for examining written or recorded data, e.g. for reading a product bar code for inventory and pricing purposes

3. body-scanning device: a device used to obtain information about the internal parts of the body without the need for surgery, or the contents of something without the need for opening it.
