retrograde

ret·ro·grade [ réttrō gràyd ]

Definition:
 
1. moving backward: moving backward in space or time

2. getting worse: worsening or returning to an earlier worse condition

3. inverse: in writing, inverse or reversed, especially in syntactic order

4. astronomy having contrary orbit: orbiting in a direction opposite to that of Earth's orbit around the Sun, or of the Moon's orbit around the Earth

5. astronomy moving east to west: moving or appearing to move from east to west in the sky, counter to the direction of most astronomical objects

6. music reversing notes: reversing the sequence of notes of an earlier version of a musical composition
