1. use of others for assistance: the act of seeking assistance from somebody or something else in a time of difficulty

2. source of help or solution: somebody, something, or a course of action to which a person turns for help or to solve a problem
She felt she had no recourse but to sue.

3. finance law right to demand payment: the right to demand payment of a bill of exchange from the person who draws or endorses it, when the person who accepts it fails to pay
