Definition:
 
1. something prominent that identifies location: a prominent structure or geographic feature that identifies a location and serves as a guide to finding it

2. important new development: an event, idea, or item that represents a significant or historic development

3. something preserved for historic importance: a structure or site identified and preserved because of its historical significance

4. boundary marker: a conspicuous object, e.g. a tree or stone, that is recognized as marking the boundary of a piece of land
