2. proof of identity: something, especially a card or document, to prove that somebody is who he or she claims to be

3. strong feeling of affinity: a powerful feeling of affinity with another person or group, which sometimes involves regarding somebody as a model and adopting his or her beliefs, values, or other characteristics
