Guys and Dolls, a musical (1950) by Frank Loesser. It transforms a story by Damon Runyon into a classic American musical comedy. Nathan Detroit, a gambler in New York City, bets that gangster Sky Masterson can't persuade the next woman he sees to go to Havana with him. The woman in question turns out to be a prim reformer who runs a mission to save sinners. In the meantime, Detroit's own long-suffering fiancée is demanding a wedding. These two-bit gangsters roister their way to an improbably happy ending. Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando starred in a 1955 movie version.
