1. hard-skinned fruit: a hard-skinned fleshy fruit produced by several different plants related to cucumbers and squash. Use: dried decorations, hollowed out for bowls, cups.

2. gourd-producing plant: a plant that produces gourds. Native to: tropical regions, cultivated worldwide.  Genera Curcurbita, Lagenaria.
