Definition:
 
1. stare with mouth open: to look at somebody or something in surprise or wonder, usually with an open mouth
He stood gaping at us in disbelief.

2. open mouth: to open the mouth wide

3. open into gap: to open or split apart with a gap
His wound was gaping open and he was losing blood.
