Definition:

1. source: the origin or source of something such as a word or somebody's name

2. linguistics word formation: the formation of a word or term from another word or from a basic form

3. mathematics logic proof: a mathematical or logical argument whose steps show that the conclusion follows necessarily from initial assumptions

4. act of deriving something: the act of obtaining something from a source or issuing from a source
