1. formal statement: a formal document giving explicit details such as the terms of a business agreement or plan, or information on goods or assets for tax purposes

2. official proclamation: an emphatic formal public statement, especially by a government or public body

3. making of declaration: the process or act of declaring something in an official or public way

4. law unsworn but solemn legal statement: a formal statement of facts that is allowed in a legal case in place of a statement made under oath

5. law plaintiff's official written claim: a formal document in which a plaintiff lays out precise details of the circumstances leading to the legal action being taken

6. card games announcement of bid: in bridge, the act of naming a suit as trump or of declaring no-trump by the player who makes the final bid
