Definition:
 
1. alteration: a change in the nature, form, or function of something
a conversion of waste land into a sports field

2. something altered: something that has been changed in nature, form, or function, especially a building or room
These apartments are conversions.

3. change of measuring system: a change from one measuring or calculating system to another, or a calculation done to bring about the change
the conversion from miles to kilometers

4. changing of somebody's beliefs: an adoption of new opinions or beliefs, especially in religion
his conversion to Islam

5. football converting following touchdown: in football, a successful kick between the goal posts or a run or pass into the end zone following a touchdown
