ceremonial or ceremonious?
Ceremonial is the more neutral word, describing things that involve ceremony or are a part of it, e.g., ceremonial occasions. It is not now used of people. Ceremonious is used of people or their behavior: a ceremonious person, or a person with a ceremonious manner, is one who likes and adheres to formalities. Avoid using ceremonious where ceremonial is appropriate.
