1. automobiles passenger-carrying road vehicle: a road vehicle, usually with four wheels and powered by an internal-combustion engine, designed to carry a small number of passengers

2. rail vehicle on rails: a vehicle designed to run on rails, e.g. a streetcar or a railroad car

3. transportation traveling compartment for people or things: the part of an airship, balloon, or cable car for carrying passengers and cargo

4. elevator: the box-shaped container of an elevator in which people or goods are carried up or down
