Definition:
 
1. ability: somebody's ability, intelligence, or character
We don't often get candidates of her caliber.

2. arms bore of firearm: the internal diameter of a pipe, cylinder, or the barrel of a firearm

3. arms size of bullet: the external diameter of a projectile such as a bullet or a shell

[Mid-16th century. Via French< Italian calibro or Spanish calibre, probably < Arabic ḳālib "mold"]
