1. having prominent bones: extremely thin and with prominent bones

2. food containing many bones: containing many bones, and often difficult to eat

3. anatomy of or like bone: consisting of or resembling bone

4. fish with backbone: describes fish that have a skeleton of bone, as distinct from cartilaginous fish such as sharks. The great majority of fish are bony. Class Osteichthyes.
