biannual or biennial?
Biannual means "twice a year" whereas biennial means "every two years." Because many people are unsure about which is which, it is often advisable to use the more straightforward expressions twice-yearly and two-yearly: Interest is paid twice-yearly, or, Interest is paid twice a year. They met at a series of two-yearly conferences on the environment, or, They met at a series of conferences on the environment held every two years.
