Bioluminescence:
Production of light by living organisms as a result of chemical reactions. Organisms that produce bioluminescence or “living light” include bacteria, dinoflagellates, fungi, jellyfish, worms, insects, crustaceans, millipedes, squid, and fish. Bioluminescence is common in some sea creatures, but rare in organisms found on land apart from fireflies.
